WOW!!! Never heard, of this one. Was growing up in the time period, for the reruns in the late '60's,-early '70's, and still didn't get a chance, to come across it. Kinda glad I didn't, 'cause that southern dialect 💩👄, would've got on my nerves. Can't quite image, if they're depicting white, or black peeps. Hence the strong, southern draw. Besides that, the situation's they endured, is funny☺️.

I adore Jimmy Durante and Buster Keaton! Ed Wynn was always fun, too. Nice to see the 'old' tv show stars as well. Always good to see Jim Garner, at any age. Fun to see 'Hennessy' stars Jackie Ccoper and Abby Dalton again. I miss that show. Wish they'd release it on dvd. I'd love to have box sets of Jimmy's and Ed's old shows. I saw them all first-run, and not again since. Nice that this little treasure was for March of Dimes. I owe many many many many . . . grateful, heartfelt thanks to the MoD. My mom had polio just before the 'sugar cube' vaccine. MoD was very helpful to our family during her recovery. My child was a preemie. MoD's March for Babies was very supportive for us. Thanx muchly, Wayback Machine One, for sharing this wonderful nostalgia trip. RIP, darling Jimmy, Buster, Jim, and Ed, and thanx so very much for the magic, music, and memories. (edit for typo)

Was it this show? They definitely didn't like "Amos & Andy," and this show of course was written by the same writers who also did the vocals -- a lot of the routines were reused from "Amos & Andy," as well -- but I never heard any complaints about this one.

Soupy introduced us to Eddie Lawrence and Clark Terry, watching the show made my life growing up so much richer. Talk about exercising you imagination. If anyone is interested, I believe the fluctuating scenery is caused by a weak high voltage supply in the tv camera. In a bright spot, the voltage would lower, changing the deflection of the scanning electron beam in the camera. The effect was called "blooming". Lots of fun back in the vacuum tube era.

Yeah. Look up “Amos and Andy”. They did blackface work, white guys playing black guys in the “minstrel” tradition, and when that went out of vogue they reworked a lot of their skits to be scripts for this cartoon. The cartoon’s a favorite oldie of mine, but yeah, it is technically like only one step removed from blackface: blackface skits by blackface performers, reworking their routine and sanitizing it for television.
